The ISC Stryder Foot Ascender has been developed following extensive feedback from professional industry users. Durability and functionality were prioritised throughout development, resulting in a device that delivers smooth upward movement and positive rope engagement for efficient ascent.

Adjustable fit with secure strap system

The Stryder is fully adjustable on both horizontal and vertical straps, allowing the user to position the device on the boot according to preference. The straps and protective under-foot sleeve are made from specially developed webbing that has passed extensive abrasion testing. Creep-free webbing combined with the mounting slot design helps the device remain firmly in position during use. The main strap tightens by pulling firmly and releases with a one-handed upward pull on the toggle.

Stainless steel cam with controlled engagement

The Stryder utilises the same stainless steel cam design as ISC’s Hand Ascender. The coned cam face provides reliable engagement on the rope while minimising sheath wear. The spring has been carefully trialled to offer sufficient tension to prevent accidental disengagement while still allowing smooth upward movement without towing the trailing rope.

Flexible cam control and rope removal

A foot lever allows the cam to be opened or closed using the opposite foot. It can also be hooked over the body to hold the cam in the open position. If preferred, the foot lever bar can be removed via an Allen screw to allow greater cam pivot range and deliberate rope removal using a kick technique.
