CAMP Turbochest Chest Ascender

The CAMP Turbochest Chest Ascender is a highly advanced progression device designed to deliver smooth, efficient rope travel during ascent. Engineered to improve interface between the rope and the device, it introduces a dual roller system that supports fluid upward movement while reducing wear typically caused by rope contact on traditional chest ascenders. Its design focuses on efficiency, durability, and controlled rope management in demanding climbing environments.

Roller-assisted efficiency and rope control

Two integrated rollers create a smooth interface with the rope, improving climbing efficiency by reducing friction during upward movement. This roller system also helps minimise wear on the device body where rope contact commonly occurs. A precisely profiled closure keeps the rope aligned with the device and rollers, reducing the risk of rope escape during tight pendulums and traverses, and supporting consistent engagement throughout use.

Durable cam and debris management

The toothed cam is finished with a specialised anti-wear treatment to support long-term durability and reliable grip. Drain holes in the cam help prevent the build-up of mud, grit, and ice, maintaining consistent performance in challenging conditions. Additional drain holes are positioned along the rope path within the main body, allowing moisture and debris to exit and improving rope contact during use.

Refined body design and versatile operation

Thicker body plates and a shaped connection point help reduce wear caused by movement between the device and connector, particularly when used with steel connectors. This design also helps keep the ascender more in line with the body during operation. The opening mechanism is simple and secure, with the ability to lock the device open for easier attachment. A removable pull cord supports easier operation while wearing gloves. The roller system also allows the Turbochest to be rigged as a locking pulley for light hauling, with a maximum load of 50 kg, noting that this configuration is not intended for hauling or securing bodies.
