The Teufelberger antiSHOCK Tool Lanyard is a purpose-designed solution for securing tools during professional tree care work while reducing shock loads on the climber and system. Developed by Teufelberger specifically for arborists, it combines practical tool retention with an integrated tear-webbing system that helps manage sudden force events, such as a chainsaw becoming momentarily trapped during cutting.

Shock Absorption Through Tear-Webbing Design

The defining feature of the antiSHOCK Tool Lanyard is its controlled tear-webbing mechanism. When forces of approximately 220 to 240 daN act on the lanyard, the tear webbing activates to absorb energy. This reduces the force transferred to the harness, anchor point and fall protection system to around 150 to 180 daN. The webbing progressively tears open to dissipate energy, helping to reduce the risk of injury during unexpected load events.

Controlled Release for Safety and Protection

If the load continues and the tool does not release, the tear webbing will fully deploy over a length of up to 70 cm, allowing the tool to drop clear. This controlled failure helps prevent excessive force being transferred to the climber or anchor system. The elastic webbing is treated to provide high abrasion resistance, supporting durability during repeated daily use in demanding tree care environments.

Practical Configurations and Clear PPE Status

The antiSHOCK Tool Lanyard is available in three configurations, with a carabiner, with a ring, or without hardware, allowing climbers to match it to their preferred setup. It is clearly identified as a non-PPE product, meaning it is not intended for life-support or fall protection.
