The FTC Freexion Friction Device is an energy diffusion system developed to allow progression with a friction hitch on a single rope while supporting controlled movement in all directions, including upward, downward, and transversal travel. Designed for professional arborists, it enables smooth transitions between single rope and doubled rope techniques without disconnecting the system. Supplied with its dedicated tether, the Freexion focuses on adaptability, compactness, and precise friction control during everyday tree work.

Adaptive friction control for SRT and DRT work

The Freexion features a three-position adjustment system with hard, medium, and soft settings, allowing the user to modify friction based on rope diameter, climber weight, rope condition, or working situation. Friction can be changed at any time without tools by pressing both ends of the double button, making on-the-fly adjustment straightforward. The tether pin position can also be changed in the tree to alter braking behaviour, supporting smooth adaptation during ascent or descent.

Efficient setup and compact system layout

The device is equipped with a secured front pin that allows it to be opened and installed anywhere along the rope for quick and easy setup. The Freexion is designed so that friction can be adjusted without removing the device from the rope or dismantling the system. Its compact design and short, flexible tether keep the system positioned low and close to the body, supporting an upright climbing posture and allowing greater freedom of movement, especially during large lateral transitions.

Durable construction and certified compatibility

The Freexion device is built with forged aluminium cheekplates and finished with matt anodisation and laser engraving for protection against environmental exposure. The tether is constructed from a polyester and Dyneema blend, combining strength with flexibility, and weighs 15 g. An additional loop on the tether allows a carabiner to be attached to add extra friction for rescue situations. The system is CE certified and can be used with EN 1891 Type A ropes with diameters from 11.5 mm to 12.5 mm.
