The DMM Shadow Locksafe 3 Way Carabiner 3 Pack is designed to offer an ideal balance between low weight, strength, and everyday usability in professional and recreational climbing systems. As personal locking carabiners, Shadows are commonly used where weight and size are just as important as strength, such as on sling runners and belay stance connection points. Supplied as a three pack in blue, red, and green, they allow quick visual differentiation within complex systems.

Offset D shape for efficient loading and handling

The Shadow uses an Offset D profile that encourages loads to sit close to the spine of the carabiner, supporting major axis loading where the connector is strongest. By extending the top bar, the Offset D design increases internal volume compared to a standard D shape. This improves handling and compatibility with thicker ropes and slings, while still remaining compact enough for efficient racking and everyday use.

Lightweight construction with glove friendly size

Thanks to I Beam construction, the Shadow achieves an excellent strength to weight ratio without unnecessary material. This allows climbers to carry multiple locking carabiners before weight becomes noticeable. Despite its low weight design, the Shadow remains large enough to handle comfortably when wearing gloves, making it suitable for winter climbing and demanding conditions. Each carabiner measures 62 x 102 mm, with the three pack offering a combined weight of 174 g.

Locksafe gate with snag free operation

The 3 Way Locksafe gate requires three distinct actions to open, helping reduce the risk of accidental opening during use. A 17 mm gate opening supports practical clipping, while the keylock nose design eliminates snagging on ropes, slings, or bolts. The Shadow offers a major axis strength of 24 kN, with 7 kN on the minor axis and 9 kN with the gate open, and conforms to EN 362:2004 B, EN 12275:2013 B, and UIAA 121 standards.
