Climbing Technology Cric Multifunctional Rope Clamp

The Climbing Technology Cric Multifunctional Rope Clamp is a compact and highly versatile device developed for professional rope access and rescue work. Designed to reduce the amount of equipment required on site, it combines multiple functions into a single, intuitive unit. Its robust construction and practical layout make it suitable for complex rope manoeuvres where efficiency, space, and speed of deployment are critical.

Four operating modes in one compact device

The Cric offers four distinct modes of operation, allowing it to adapt to a wide range of tasks. It can be used as a rope ascender in accordance with EN 567 and EN 12841-B standards, or as a simple pulley for lifting or load transfer in line with EN 12278. It also functions as a rope clamp with integrated pulley for redirects, as well as a progress-capture hauling pulley for lifting, hauling systems, rescue, or self-rescue operations.

Controlled rope movement and progress capture

In pulley mode, the rope runs freely in both directions, supporting smooth lifting and redirection. When used in progress-capture hauling pulley mode, the rope travels in one direction only and locks in the opposite direction, allowing loads to be raised securely. Lowering a lifted load is possible by operating the dedicated cord connected to the internal cam, providing controlled release during rescue or hauling operations.

Durable design with intuitive handling

The device features an easy opening system operated by an intuitive release button, allowing fast installation onto the rope even when wearing gloves or working in difficult conditions. A steel cam with specially shaped teeth provides effective rope locking while minimising wear. Two slots in the cam reduce dirt build-up, helping maintain reliable performance on muddy or frozen ropes. Weighing 150 g, the Cric balances durability with a compact and manageable form. It is important to note that this device is not a fall arrester and must not be used for self-belaying while climbing.
