Petzl ZIGZAG & ZILLON Recall Information – Are Current Products Affected?

At Treeworker, customer safety always comes first. Whenever a manufacturer issues a safety notice or product recall, we review the information carefully to make sure every product we supply meets the latest manufacturer guidance.

We have published this information to help customers understand the historic Petzl ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS and ZILLON safety notice issued in 2021, and to clarify whether products currently supplied by Treeworker are affected.

What was the Petzl safety notice?

On 31 August 2021, Petzl published a safety notice relating to reported cases of rope slippage with specific ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS and ZILLON products.

The official Petzl notice stated that the affected products were limited to the following models:

• Petzl ZIGZAG – D022AA00
• Petzl ZIGZAG PLUS – D022BA00
• Petzl ZILLON – L22A 025, L22A 040 and L22A 055

The notice only applied to products with serial numbers between:

18L 0000000 000 and 21G 0000000 000

The issue related to a production variance affecting the release levers, which could result in rope slippage in certain cases. Petzl provided inspection guidance and return information for users whose products fell within the affected serial number range.

Are current Treeworker products affected?

No. Treeworker officially opened for trading on 13 April 2026.

All Petzl products supplied by Treeworker are purchased directly from Petzl France through the authorised manufacturer supply chain.

Because Treeworker only stocks current-production Petzl products manufactured well after the affected production period, the Petzl ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS and ZILLON devices supplied by Treeworker are not part of the 2021 safety notice and are outside the affected serial number range of 18L 0000000 000 to 21G 0000000 000.

How can customers check older Petzl equipment?

Every Petzl product carries a serial number. Customers who own older ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS or ZILLON equipment should refer to the official Petzl safety notice for full details, including serial number identification, inspection guidance and return information.

Treeworker’s approach to product safety

Treeworker takes manufacturer recalls and safety notices seriously. If any manufacturer issues a safety notice or recall, we review the information immediately and act in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.

We will never knowingly supply products affected by an active manufacturer recall. If a product is found to be affected by a safety notice, it will be removed from sale and handled according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
